Karaganda - is not only a mining town, but also sports.

People here really like hockey. On the "Karaganda-arena", which is the home of the hockey club "Saryarka", is performed many different activities. It is located a bit remote on the Avenue of the Republic 13. The arena seats the main hall with a tribune with a capacity of 5500 people, conference room, gym, cafe, training room and more. Hockey club "Saryarka" plays in the Supreme Hockey League. The atmosphere at hockey games is always amazing. The most famous hockey players of the natives of Karaganda can be called Konstantin Barulin and Dmitry Kochnev.

After discovery and exploration of the coal basin in the Karaganda formed a football team "Shakhter". The club has existed for over 50 years, and every year more and more fans support the team. Games are held at the stadium Shakhter, which is located at Bukhar Zhyrau Avenue near the Central Park.

Their career began from the sports sections in the city. After winning the Olympics and World Championships they are trying to develop sport in Kazakhstan and promote it in Karaganda.
